PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (DETAILED)

logo UNICEF

Unicef Supply Division, Copenhagen

Financial Management and Administrative Center

Unicef is mandated by the United Nation to advocate for the protection of children’s rights and contributes to basic education and gender equality across the world. Unicef today procures a range of products to support country programmes and respond to emergencies. Unicef has a presence in 162 countries and its main warehouse is located in Copenhagen, for most of the worldwide procurement of supplies and equipment (around $95 million).
  • Description of the team:

Our team supports the financial operations of Supply Division in Copenhagen, being reponsible for accounting, administration, budgetary and financial issues, including procurement services accounting.

  • My current responsabilities:

Business Process Analyst  (since January 2011)

>> Coordination of a business process review

To prepare the next implementation of IPSAS, the new accounting standard for public organisations, our team has to review the current processes that may be affected by these new standards. The processes correspond to the financial flows during the supply chain, from the accounting entries until the issuance of Statement of Account.
My main action is to work together with the business users to review the processes, to identify areas with potential IPSAS compliancy issue, and finally to develop new compliant procedures and workflows. Required changes will be then implemented in SAP by the IT department.
The typical issues are to determine the basis of calculation for expenses, the timing for revenue recognition, or how price and Forex reevaluation have to be managed.

>> Coordination of the project of roll-out of a new version of SAP

Together with the implementation of IPSAS, a new version of SAP will be rolled-out this year and will affect some of the current processes as well. Beside the process review, the migration of the system requires a strong effort to test the data and functionalities.
My main action is to work among the business users and the IT department in order to follow-up the data migration (data cleansing, definition of mapping rules, validation of migrated data), the testing (definition of test cases, testing, validation) and finally to contribute to the training sessions of the business users.
